The War In Iraq Finally Ends

Even though I spend a lot of time talking about and exclaiming the wonderful benefits of various companies, I actually have a life where I can keep up with current events and believe it or not, form an opinion on important topics. This isn’t the same as being opinionated, but maybe a close second.

One of my biggest opinions to date is how the whole war in Iraq was a major mistake contrived as a way for certain political entities (you know who I’m talking about) to manipulate the American people to believe through misguided information that Iraq was a major threat and had to be dealt with swiftly before it was too late. I guess those same political entities (I don’t even consider them to be honored with the title of “person” or “people”) decided this could be a great opportunity to pay a certain company, Halliburton, to go over and handle all the money that was being sent over by the crate load. Can you say no-bid contract boys and girls? Take a wild guess which entity was at one time the CEO of Halliburton, and which entity’s dad worked for Dresser Industries that merged with Halliburton? Throughout the early 21st century they were laughing all the way to the bank as thousands of people died or were critically injured, all in the name of greed.

But wait, someone even tried to go so far as to say Iraq and Al-Qaeda (who we should have been focused on for attacking us on our homeland) were linked in some inexplicable way. The only way the two of them were linked is that they both included the letter Q in their names, but other than that it was proven through history that Al-Qaeda was mostly headquartered between Afghanistan and Pakistan. Whoops!! Sounds like somebody needed to up their geography game when going after terrorists, huh?

Who can forget that memorable day on May 1, 2003 when the Mission Accomplished (Not) speech (with accompanying banner)was given after a certain somebody showboated his way onto an aircraft carrier by landing a jet in such a way that you would have thought he’d actually seen some combat during his military tenure (another Not). The only mission that was accomplished at that point was with knowing they had secured their favorite money maker into a comfortable position to receive some incoming loads of cold hard cash in that land of oil sheiks and camels.

Yesterday I got the chance to see Obama announcing to the troops at Fort Bragg that the war is finally over, and all troops that are stationed there will be stateside within the month. Thank God. The atmosphere surrounding this withdrawal is very subdued without even a hint of the victory celebrations that followed World War 2 when our troops returned for a ticker tape parade. Our troops deserved better than this. It’s nothing but a tragedy that anybody ever had to die in that country fighting for reasons that were unfounded and based on questionable motivations that were morally wrong. As both Obama and Biden have repeated on multiple occasions, history will stand to prove whether or not the war in Iraq was ever needed, and considering that our recent history has proven exactly where the money went, and where the terrorists were actually located, I don’t think we’ll have to wait long for the truth to be told.
