There Is A Solution For Xbox Redlights

The last thing a serious gamer wants to see are the dreaded red lights no an Xbox. These lights typically mean that the system has an error and it is no longer going to work. The solution to the problem that many people use is to send the system back to the manufacturer and have them fix it. There are two drawbacks to this solution: it can cost money, and the console will be gone for around 4 weeks. There is a better solution to the xbox redlights problem that requires a few hours of time and some household tools.

The red rings that show up on the gaming system are there because part of the system has overheated. The bad thing about the xbox redlights issue is that it won't go away on it's own when the system cools down. It needs to be repaired, and that is why knowing a few simple techniques for home repair is so essential. The first thing that needs to be done is to disassemble the case on the Xbox. This involves removing the face plate and then unscrewing the metal case that is underneath.

When the xbox redlights show up, specifically the three red rings of death, it is the motherboard on the system that has overheated and become loose. It is necessary to take this part out, so all cables need to be unplugged. The DVD drive must come out first, and then the fan and motherboard can gently be taken out of the system. There is an X clamp on the backside of the motherboard, and this piece needs to be taken off. This is a delicate process that must be handled with care.

Once the X clamp is off, there will be access to the graphics processor. This is the part of the machine that freezes up and causes the xbox redlights to show up. Again, this is a very delicate part of the machine and great care should be taken when working in this area. The graphics processor and CPU need to be cleaned and that can be done with a soft cloth. While the process of fixing an Xbox at home can take some time and patience, it will save money in the long run. It will also keep the console at home and keep the games going.
