Things To Consider Before Starting Your Dalmation Training
Age. Puppies can learn new tricks, also the older dogs as long as they are handled properly. But the reason owners should put into consideration their pet's age is because of physical limitations. Young puppies may not be able to avoid accidents inside the house due to the fact that they have limited control of their bowel and bladder. Older dogs, on the other hand, may not be able to master tricks that involve jumping, running and other strenuous activities because of possible existence of hip dysplasia, arthritis and other related health problems. When trying to figure out what lessons to teach your dog, it is important that you consider their age to prevent problems in the future. Dog's Personality. Though they are of the same breed, your dal may not have the same personality to that of your neighbor's. Yours may respond better to correction-based training than to positive reinforcement. Time. Some dogs can learn a certain command in a matter of minutes and a few tries while others need more time learning the same command. Some dogs even need constant supervision during the first few days of being home. If your pet is the type of dog who needs more time and you cannot provide him with that, then a change in approach maybe necessary. Leaving your pet in kennels or hiring a pet-sitter to accompany your dog when you are away usually solves the problem. Enjoy your dalmation training!
