Things You Ought To Know About Indie Fashion

Ralph Waldo Emerson is one of the best essayist and writer of all time. He once said, "To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment." Pretty sure, indie kids all over the world would have been proud to have met Mr. Emerson. Those words of Emerson are very much what Indie is all about. To understand better, let us briefly discuss this lifestyle that many are interested to. Indie believes what is outside the norms. They hate stereotypes. It is said to have originated in the early 70's and 80's when music becomes a life changing experience for everybody.

Nobody can deny the impact of music to people's distinctiveness. Since many musicians are embracing Indie belief, a lot of kids as young as eight are captivated by this fad called Indie. The fad is all about freedom of expression, without conforming to what the stereotypes believe in. They are not the shallow because they do not dress just to impress others.

So, what is an Indie? Indie kids value their individuality and uniqueness. They do not conform to the values and philosophy of majority. They love to listen to Indie and alternative music. They hate music found in the top 20s of the music charts because those are the bands and single artists that most people adores. They are open minded, having that said, they do not judge people just by looking at others appearance.

The trend among Indies are body piercing and skin arts. An Indie kid on the other hand, are not yet allowed to body piercing and they should wait until they are of legal age of 18 before they can do whatever they want with their body. Unless, their parents are Indies too. But mostly, kids below 18 are not yet allowed to have body piercing of any sort. They must wait until they are old enough before they can experiment with their bodies.

Then again, there are ways to falsify it. So don't fret if your kids are into Indies. Why not buy magnetic jewelry as they are non invasive. They are less invasive yet they look different. They are found in most boutique stores and district tattoo shops.

When it comes to their outfit, most Indie kids are into hot pants with vintage tees. Girls on the other hand are attached to big accessories and cosmetics. Although many parents are against this because they can appear cheap. Their philosophy is that they look atypical when they are wearing heavy makeup and big accessories. At times they wear their hair as if it has life of its own. They don't care to fix their locks. They don’t even care if they are called names by people around them.

If you know someone who is attracted to Indie, do not judge. Who knows? That kid is still a son or a daughter, a brother or a sister and someone who still belongs to the human race. No one can really tell what the child may turn out in the future. So don’t call them misfits or outcasts because they fit perfectly in this world and they are entitled to have their own views and ideals. They just don’t want to be conformed in this world and be called as average because they are not. Rather, love them and care them, although they are unique, they are still humans.
