Thoughts You Choose To Think: Affirmations
Our minds are creative, and the conditions, environments and all our life experiences are the result of our habitual mental attitude and that mental attitude is dependant on what we think. Therefore, the secret of all power, of all achievement and success depends upon our method of thinking, the thoughts that we choose to think. Now that we know this to be true, how do we use this knowledge to gain what we desire? Affirmations are, simply put, thoughts we choose to think. By using this method, what we are basically doing is planting seeds into our subconscious minds of those things we desire to manifest because life expresses our thoughts into physical reality. It is important to note as we proceed that there are three basic principles applying to thoughts and their expression. First, what we think about expands and grows, both positive and negative. Secondly, whatever you think and believe is the absolute truth you will create because this I know, what I am experiencing right now corresponds to my beliefs, and how do beliefs come to be, they are thoughts our subconscious minds hold to be true even if they aren't. And lastly, a thought is eternal until it is unthought or rethought. A thought that enters your mind will continue to be active especially unconsciously. Psychology has proven in details I will not delve into right now, that memory is active. So a thought in memory will continue to be active until you bring it back into consciousness and rethink it or totally obliterate it. These principles are greatly important in realizing the importance of affirmations because from the first principle we can see that if you affirm a certain thought in your mind, that thought, affirmation, will expand, attracting like thoughts. And from the second principle, if you constantly repeat that specific affirmation with the desired outcome, your mind will come to believe it and hold it to be true since we know that repetition breeds integration and internalization thus creating that outcome you desire. To unthink negative old beliefs all you need to do is to become aware of them through a process of reflective meditation, that is, being still, silent and recognizing specific thoughts you have about certain aspects of your life. In doing this look at the predominant thoughts clearly and rationally. Now you may be wondering how long it takes to manifest the desired outcome using the affirmation technique. Well, the time it takes to get results is a function of how much certainty you have about the affirmation and how much you are conscious of any doubts that exist. It is directly proportionate to your faith and confidence that you will get the outcome you desire by affirming it in your mind. Don't get discouraged by this statement because you don't have to be an absolute believer to get results, you just have to be willing to entertain the possibility that you could get results. This is enough to tilt the scale in your favor. You will see some small change after you start affirming that which you want even if you have some doubts. When you see the small change, then you will believe it more. After you believe more, the change will become greater and you believe more again, and this continues exponentially until the desired outcome is achieved. A word of caution though; always state your affirmations in the positive and present. For example, instead of saying "I don't want to be broke" rather say "I am wealthy and prosperous." We can liken our minds to gardens and the affirmations to seeds. For these seeds to grow unhindered our gardens need to be free of weeds, and these weeds are fearful, hesitant and doubtful thoughts. They can choke up the results we desire to attain. We can clear our minds by using meditation, prayer or breathing exercises to make way for the growth of new thought patterns and belief systems that will aid us in attaining the prosperity and success we desire, because we now know that our state of wealth and prosperity externally is a reflection and testament of our wealth internally. By repetition of the affirmations, thoughts and beliefs we choose become embedded into our subconscious, they cross over and become us. To emphasize more on the power of the use of affirmations, let me reiterate the statement that life expresses our thoughts into physical reality. To express is to make known, to communicate, in this case, life makes known to us our thoughts by forming them into experiences and material possessions that can be experienced here in the physical reality. We experience our thoughts first hand so that we may know which ones are suitable and which ones aren't, this is how we get to know ourselves and grow. The world's architectural design is so that we may experience ourselves. It is designed so that we may experience an idea and its consequences. Life does not choose for you which thoughts to express and which ones not to. It expresses them all to the extent that you have them and believe them, so it is in your best interests that you choose specifically which thoughts you choose to hold in your mind. Two affirmations to consider which have been noted to produce great results for many people: "I deserve to be wealthy"; "What I do is a conduit for energy flow by which I tap the infinite wealth of my world economy for my own personal desires." Remember this; what you put your attention on gets energy from you and grows. Remove the attention and it withers and dies. "What you intend and give attention to begins to become." In conclusion, be of present mind, but make choices about your future with a single focused mind.
