Three Key Considerations For Selecting A New Bed
First and foremost, the number of people using the bed is major determinant of bed size. If the bed is just for one person then a twin or double is usually the best option depending on room size. Also, if the bed is for a taller person then an extra long twin bed might be the best size for a new bed. However, extra long twin sheets can be tougher to find than sheets for other standard size beds. For people looking for a bed for two, a queen or king are common choices although occasionally a double will be fine as well. The second key factor in choosing a new bed is how much space you need in the bed. For a single person in need of more space, a double is the right selection. Those wanting less space will be fine with a twin. For couples that don’t mind being close at night, a double will be good (in fact double beds were the most common size for couples until the 1960s). A queen size bed provides more space and finally a king offers plenty of space in a bed. Finally, the size of the room that the bed is for will be a large determinant. Smaller rooms may require smaller beds. For double and twin beds this isn’t a problem since they will fit in nearly all rooms. For couples, space concerns may be more important. Smaller bedrooms will likely require a couple to use a double bed, since larger sizes may not fit. Be sure to measure out the space in advance of buying a new bed and you’ll know what will fit.
