Three Principles For Fighting Hormonal Acne
Before letting you in on the three principles, we must understand more about the hormonal cycles in a woman which can cause acne. The Biochemical Cause of Acne: The cause of hormonal acne is most often linked to androgens, which are the hormones that stimulate the sebaceous - or oil - glands and hair follicles in the skin. As androgens are released prior to the menstrual cycle, sebaceous glands are stimulated and sebum is produced. If this sebum becomes trapped in the pores, pimples may result. Or focus on a tree if you are outside, simply focusing on just your own breathing will help you de-stress. It is easy and it will reduce the levels of androgen in your body, therefore reducing the hormonal acne on your skin. Principle #3: Consume More Essential Oils You can also lessen hormonal acne by properly consuming essential fatty acids (essential oils) such as those found in salmon and olive oil. Essential oils have been found to stimulate estrogen receptors and block the androgen receptors in the body. Being that androgens are the culprits behind hormonal acne, suppressing them by eating essential fatty acids makes sense. Besides, salmon is very healthy for you, as is olive oil. Treatments for Hormonal Acne There are several treatment options available for women with hormonal acne, including topical retinoids, topical antimicrobials (such as benzoyl peroxide and antibiotics), and oral antibiotics that are prescribed when the inflammation is more severe.
