Time Management System During High School
When working on long assignments take short breaks periodically. Though this may sound counterproductive, it will actually keep you more focused. When working nonstop one begins to get tired and the mind starts to wander. Stopping for short periods of time keeps both the body and mind energized. When working on long essays and projects spend a little bit of time on them each day. It will be much more difficult to find one day where you will have enough time to do the entire thing than it will to find a short amount over a stretch of several days. Even if it's only a few minutes, every little bit contributes to the final product. Homework does not necessarily have to be done at home. Be productive during any study hall you might have. If the school is giving an opportunity to use what is normally class time to do homework take advantage of it. During bus or car rides read a book or study with flashcards. Both are easy, quick, and portable. If you have to wait for an appointment or practice, use that time to do homework. Whatever you can get done will lighten the load of what needs to be done later. Homework is not the only thing that requires time management. The activities you do throughout the day need to be planned carefully as well. Find the time to do what you enjoy. Schedule your activities around each other so that you are able to commit to each one faithfully. Leave enough time in between each one to rest and to do everything else that is absolutely necessary. Know when to say “no.” If you try to do everything, your schedule will quickly become overloaded, and your brain will shortly follow. It is great to have a variety of things to do but not if you are not able to provide the best effort for all of them. Time management skills will be improved immensely if one learns the art of multitasking. Whether it be reading and eating or planning for a project while exercising, getting two things done at once makes a person twice as productive. However, use caution when doing this because the mind is not completely focused on one thing and one's performance may suffer as a result. When it comes time management procrastination is public enemy number one. If something can be done today do not put it off until tomorrow. There is always less time than you think there is so start whatever it is you plan to do as soon as possible. This way no time is wasted. There is nothing wrong with getting something done ahead of schedule. By following these simple tips one may find that he or she not only has enough time to finish everything he or she needs to do, but there will be time to spare. There will be time to get all of your work done, go to the basketball game, and even spend some time with your friends.
