Tips On Caring For Baby Crib Mattresses

Do you know what it takes to properly care for a baby crib mattress? Most parents think that as long as they change the sheets every so often that the mattress will stay clean but that isn’t always correct. The first thing you need to understand is that many crib mattress will get dirt, dust, and other things that could potentially harm your baby on them even if there is a sheet on the mattress.

Caring for a baby crib mattress is really quite simple, all you need to do is follow these 4 steps and you will have the best and cleanest baby mattress around.
Wipe down the actual mattress when you change sheets – This is what most people don’t do and that is why sheets will get dirty quicker. Sheets need to be clean on both sides and if you never wipe down the mattress when you change sheets then the back side won’t ever be clean. I suggest taking a soft cloth and wiping the mattress down that way the fibers will get into the creases and pull out any dirt and dust.

Change the sheets 2 times per week – This is very simple, you must change the sheets so you can clean them and I suggest at least 2 times per week.
Use a mattress pad – This is what many parents forget to do and it will cost you if you do. I suggest that you have at least 2 mattress pads in your home at all times that way when you take one off you wash you have another one ready to go on.

Steam clean the mattress – If you don’t have a steam cleaner then I would highly suggest you get one. Steam cleaners are perfect for many things and especially really cleaning your baby’s mattress. I suggest cleaning the mattress at least 2 times per month.
