Tips For Choosing Questions For Your Survey Software

Designing the questions is the most important part of any survey, whether it is a traditional survey or one that uses survey software. The following article is an attempt to

provide you some tips on designing a successful questionnaire.

Consider the Goal of the Survey:

The most important thing is to be aware of the objective of the survey so that you can plan the questions accordingly.

Use Easy Language:

Your survey participants may come from various educational backgrounds, so it is better to use simple and easy to understand language for the survey questions.

Keep Open Ended Questions to a Minimum:

Although open-ended questions allow the survey participant to give a more detailed explanation for the answer without any constraints, it is preferable to keep such

questions to a minimum. The reason is that open-ended questions are time consuming, and too many is not advisable for a survey form.

Avoid Biased Questions that Lead to the Answer:

The goal of your questions should be to get the actual view of the customer. You should not add biased questions that try to get an answer that you personally prefer getting

from the online surveys participant.

Avoid merging two Questions into One:

Sometimes people use confusing double-barreled questions. For example: "How much are you willing to spend on a TV and a CD player?" This question is baffling because

it expects one answer for two questions. Instead, two different questions can be asked for precise answers.

Keep your Questionnaire as Brief as Possible:

See that you include only questions that can extract useful information for improving your products and services. If you are using multiple choice questions, make sure that

you use only a few choices to keep it simple.
