Tips For Installing Your Own Security Alarm System
Hardwired security systems require the installer to usually lift floorboards, drill joists and generally hide the cables which all makes the system more difficult if you haven't perfected these skills. When I first started installing security systems the wireless options were not as reliable as hardwired systems and were very much more expensive and so even though hardwired systems were more difficult to install there were still the most popular choice of professional installers. Today that is not the case you can buy a wireless security alarm at a very competitive price and they truly are very easy and quick to install and more importantly, reliable. Obviously I will not advertise any particular system but I will give some recommendations what to look for when about to purchase a wireless security alarm. Personally I would if possible consider buying one with an auto dialler built-in which will connect the security system to the telephone line and on activation the security system can ring the pre-programmed numbers to inform of the activation. This effectively means that the people who are programmed into the system with their mobile or landline numbers are acting as a monitoring system and this provides great peace of mind and security. There are usually various features built into the auto dialler which often give the facility to allow people to be their security system remotely from any location by using their mobile phone or landline and often also test the system also from the telephone. Secondly I would also make sure that there are wireless accessories available with a system like extra remote keypads, smoke detectors, panic buttons and wireless key fobs so that your alarm system is adaptable to future needs. A wireless house alarm is very useful if you also want to protect a remote building from your main house like a workshop or garage. If it was a hardwired system it would need a wire running from the main building to the remote building which obviously can be very difficult. But with a wireless system this is not the case it couldn't be easier. You could quickly and easily add a wireless passive infrared and extra keypad to your garage and then disarm your system without entering the house. A wireless key fob can be very useful, you can arm your main house alarm as you leave the premises from outside, and most systems will flash the siren box strobe light to visually tell you that your alarm is armed. So basically the process of installing a security alarm system that is wireless is much quicker and easier and can be installed by most people with basic do-it-yourself skills.
