Tips On Telling And Selling Stories

Have you noticed people clamoring to tell you their story even before you finish telling your own?

It's because people listening to your story are actually visualizing their own story while you are speaking.

That's why storytelling is such a powerful sales tool. It has the ability to engage people in their own minds and stimulates conversation.

We also know that while people are likely to forget sales data and information they almost never forget a good story.

Three Simple Keys to Storytelling

1. Learn The Story. Get pictures and images in your mind. It's easier to remember scenes, sequences, and concepts than it is to memorize words.
2. Remember The Story. Create a simple outline that has a beginning, middle and end. A logical sequence of events is an aid to recall making a story easier to remember.
3. Tell The Story. Relax, have fun, and imagine what is happening as you speak. Use your natural style, expression and emotion to help communicate meaning.

How to Craft A Story

What helps sell people is how they can see things for their own benefit and viewpoint.

o Start with simple truths
o Show the way out of problems and negative situations
o Show how the customer can win
o Show why your product or service works better than the competition
o Show why your product or service has more value than the competition
o Use scenarios of what and why to make things work and happen
o Leave room for the listener to have their own point of view
o Have fun telling stories-be real, be alive

What will make you a great storyteller will be how well you craft stories to fit situations.

Make selling more fun, interesting and relatable. Develop a bank of sales stories and watch your sales closing ratio improve.
