To Color Or Not To Color - Faq

FAQ 1: I am moving into a new house, and the walls are all white. How do I bring in personality into my house.. which colors do I use to paint the walls in my rooms?

Answer 1: First of all, white is not considered bland, and is ok to have.
If you go with white, then you can choose an array of bright art pictures, vases, stained glass to accentuate a particular room. Bright rugs, and dark furniture further can add that 'color' to a white room.
If you do not like white at all, then go with neutral colors. Remember, you do not want different colors in the hallways, and living and dining rooms.. you want to make sure that there is a 'flow' of color, and not abrupt change of colors across rooms.

Bedrooms could be a very soothing color or baby blue, light green, or light yellow.
Kitchen could have a bright backsplash, and a contrast color on the walls. You can also add accent color to walls in the living room.
Family rooms should have a soothing light color - beige or peach work best here.
Bathrooms are where you can go crazy, and add your 'wild' taste here - you can use dark colors in here, and contrast it with the stainless steel hardware. Add candles, towels to contrast also.

FAQ 2: I have very dark furniture in my living room, and have dark blinds as well. How do I make it more roomy?

Answer 2: I would definitely remove the dark blinds and add light colored, textured (maybe with bold colored prints) curtains on all the windows. If the walls are colored with a bright color, either color them with a offwhite paint, or any light color, that contrasts the dark furniture.
Bringing in more light colors gives that big, roomy feel to a room.
