Tom Cruise Thrills Vancouver Fans

Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol filming in Vancouver is bringing residents up close with Hollywood stars. Since fall 2010, Tom Cruise has been in Vancouver with Jeremy Renner and Simon Pegg to film the series’ fourth installment. It is set to be released in December 2011.

On Saturday, January 8, crowds gathered outside the Vancouver Convention Centre, hoping to get a glimpse of Cruise during filming. The convention centre was being revamped to look like a section of India’s streets, complete with market stalls, palm trees and signs.

After two hours of waiting in close-to-freezing temperatures, fans got what they’d been waiting for. Cruise popped out from the set, waving and smiling at screaming fans. Cruise spent time with almost every fan, signing autographs and posing for photos.

Fan Jon Ng waited with a few of his friends for two hours to see Cruise and said the actor was very gracious and nice. Ng said Cruise didn’t rush through any of his interactions with fans, even stopping to ensure good lighting so one fan could get a good picture.

Ng said he was surprised by how much time the actor took with every fan, but called the experience a great memory.
