Top 5 Ways To Fight Email Spam

useless messages you don’t want is something you will never want to deal with. The good news is you can actually make your wish come true and protect your account from spammers.

Below are the top five ways to fight e-mail spamming and limit the number of unwanted electronic messages you receive:

1 – Set up your email filters – Many webmail providers actually allow you the option of only receiving emails from certain addresses you approve of. You can add as many people as you want to this list. Anything from a sender not included in the filter will be discarded.

2 – Don’t give it out to just anyone – Treat your email-address like it is your telephone number. You wouldn’t freely give out your numbers to just anyone, so don’t be so liberal with your web mail. In many cases, a lot of the junk you get is actually the result of giving your address out when filling out forms (I.E. sweepstakes, contests, etc.), signing up for online newsletters, memberships, posting it on a webpage, etc.

3 – Mark all spam as junk – You can tag anything sent from a sender you don’t want to hear from as junk, which means you will no longer see anything from this person in your inbox.

4 - Use the delete button – Never forget that you have the power to delete all messages! Deleting takes less than a second and you never have to open any mail prior to sending it to the trash.

5 – Use an emailing search to find out who they are –If the SPAM you are encountering is really bothersome, you can always run a reverse email search and lookup the e-address to see if you can find out who is behind them. This resource can tell you interesting details about the sender including their IP address, their name, other contact data as well as who their Internet Service Provider is. You can actually complain to the spammer’s ISP and inform them of their activities. They may then take action and delete this person’s account as messages of this junky nature are often prohibited.
