Toy Story 3 Lego 2010 Review: Set 7789 Lotso’s Dump Truck
The minifigures include Lotso and two of the daycare center toys Chunk, Stretch. There is also a fairly cute half a minifigure truck driver sitting in the vehicle's cabin. You may get upset that Lego only included half the figure but as this truck is based on a toy truck such as Fisher Price produces, Lego have no doubt accurately reproduced what appears on screen. The coolest figure, exclusive to this set is Chunk who is a reproduction of a wild action figure from the 1980's (whose name escapes me) whose face can roll back into his head to reveal another face with a different expression. Seen in Lego format it is quite special. The Stretch is also quite unique and with the shape of an octopus, his legs are made of rubber so can bend and stretch. Lotso is unique to this set in that he is clean-the other sets from this wave have him with dirty detailing, so it is hard to say which version will be rarer. The truck itself is small but cute. With a small round piece at the side to turn the dump tray lifts up and tips out whatever is inside, which in the set's case includes a couple of colourful Lego pieces. With a small rubber band at the base, the tray swings back into place which makes for a nice effect. Overall the set is a nice addition to the Toy Story range. Although it has none of the main heroes of the story it is a great way to get Lotso who features predominately in the newest film and younger kids will love the small colourful truck.
