Traffic, Conversion And Sales Letters – Get Their Attention

Which Is More Important To Your Business – Visitors or Subscribers?? NEITHER!

Surprised??! Probably not, because anyone with any business acumen at all knows that you can have all the traffic and subscribers in the world, but the only thing that really matters is those who actually “buy”.

Of course traffic and conversion go together because you won’t get buyers if no one shows up in the first place. Professional business people know their:
1. Opt-in conversion rate.
2. Sales conversion rate.
3. Income per visitor.
4. Shopping cart abandonment percentage.
They’ll know these numbers off the top of their heads – do you?

Is traffic going to cost you something? Yes, in either time or money. In the beginning you may have more time than money, but later on you will find, you value your time more than money.

Whether you run PPC ads, produce content for social sites or search engines or send contact packages to JV partners and affiliates, it all costs money – nothing’s free.

Do you know what your return on investment is? If you’re bidding $1per clickthrough running PPC and only 4 out of 100 visitors buy your $20 product, you’re making 80 cents per customer. Without low margins you may run into trouble at $.75 per clickthrough. Adding a back-end offer, an upsell, or even an email follow-up series to all visitors to sell additional products, can help get those numbers up. Getting those numbers up can help you pay more per click and jump ahead of a lot of other sites that are bidding lower.

When you find the bidding higher in a market, you know there’s money to be made in that market. They’ve found a way to improve their customer value and can afford to pay more. As they pay more, they get more customers, etc.

You can get “free” visitors, but you’d only get ¼ the conversion rate for the same amount of work. That’s not how to “earn more and work less”.

Maybe you don’t do adwords. How about copywriting? Educate your customer. The experts say that copywriting is really the million dollar skill.
Here are a few tips to help you get started.
1. Sales Letters – always keep a record of great sales letters. Find websites that have been successful online for years and read their sales letters. Scour your junk mail from the big marketers. Read, mark and inwardly digest the best – over and over till you get it! This is the golden key!
2. Grab Your Visitors Attention – with great headlines. Get their curiosity up and hold their attention. Write down all the pros of your own product and compare it to the competition. Doing proper research will help you enormously.
3. Write The Way You Talk – like you’re having a conversation with your best friend. You want to do your best job as far as spelling, grammar, etc., but don’t get hung up on it. Write, then test it on yourself. Does it capture your attention or put you to sleep? Have someone else read it and give their honest opinion.
4. Test, Test, Test – Even if you think a headline is doing it’s best, try changing a word, text, etc. to see if you can improve it. There’s a free way to do split testing with multivariate testing. Google Optimizer is one of the best, you just have to have an account, without spending any money in the account, although it will cost about $5 to set the account up. When testing, start at the top, with the headline and work your way down, testing each paragraph, photo caption, price, etc.

No matter which route you take, take a route! Get started, take action. You’ll never do it absolutely perfectly, but you will learn with every step you take.
