Traffic Generation - The Missing Link For Internet Marketers

When it comes to getting a website noticed by the millions of people around the world on the Internet, there is no Internet marketing without Internet traffic. The purpose of Internet marketing is to get traffic, and as much traffic as possible in order to create sales. At the very least, interest has to be created in order to get sales. Otherwise it doesn't matter how great the website has been created, or how great the product on the website being sold is. No traffic means that no sales are being produced, then the whole venture is all for nothing.

The most popular way of getting traffic to one's website is through search engine optimization. This is the process primarily through Google of getting one's website ranked highly enough so that people will pay attention to it and visit the website. Again this is all relative to Internet traffic. However lots of people are starting to re-think the merits of search engine optimization. While it always has been a winner and to some extent it always will be one of the primary ways of driving traffic, people are realizing that there are other ways to get traffic to the website besides search engine optimization. At the very least, they are realizing that they can use a combination of methods. Search engine optimization is awesome, but it is not the end all, be all method.

One other method is to manually market one's website through personal advertising. How is this done on the Internet? This is done through methods such as blog posting, forum posting, or through social networking. The bottom line is that a person actively goes out to the Internet and finds creative ways to draw traffic to their website. This takes a lot of time and energy but many people rely on this as part of their trafficking portfolio.

Another effective way of getting traffic to one's website is to build an opt-in list. The opt in lists is the solution of a person having to constantly search on the Internet for new prospects. When they get the traffic to their website the first time around, a person decides to opt in to an e-mail list. When they subscribe to an e-mail list, they will always be in touch with one's website and the products and services that are being offered, as well as the content. It's really a harmless process. If person decides that they no longer want to receive e-mails, they simply opt to unsubscribe from the list. But the hope is that the person will decide to stay on the list, and for a long period of time. Not only this, but one hopes that they will also tell their friends to subscribe to an opt in list. This way, the Internet marketer doesn't have to work nearly as hard to get the same results.

Article marketing is a popular way of driving traffic to one's website. One simply submits informational articles to article directories, and at the bottom of the article, they can create a link that will entice a person to subscribe to their blog, or to their website. Many people have found this method to be effective, but they have to have the patience, and the know-how in writing articles. If they don't know how to write these articles, they can always hire other people to do these for them.

All of these methods work to drive traffic to a website for the Internet marketer. Since Internet traffic is the lifeblood of any website, an Internet marketer would do well to implement all of these.
