Step #1: We visit Blogger.com and register for a new blog.
Step #2: We find a topic that we enjoy, and start posting on a regular basis.
Step #3: Our blog gets indexed by Google, and suddenly, we're getting search engine traffic from Google.
Step #4: After about a month, because we get no results from blogging, or money in most cases, our interest in blogging wanes, and we abandon the blog. Google, which is interested in fresh content, slowly moves the blog from 1st page position to 2nd , to 3rd, and before we know it, the blog gets moved to an obscure position in the search engine rankings.
This does not have to happen to your blog.
One of the most important aspects of the blog is to invest in an autoresponder tool and place it on your blog above the fold. What the above the fold mean? Its just a simple technical term for an opt in form that is on the top half of the browser when you visit the blog, and preferably the 1st thing that a surfer sees. In other words, putting it at "eye level" will then encourage a surfer to provide their name and email, indicating they're interested in your topic and want to learn more.
This little detail will make a huge difference to your blogging as you start to realise that there're people interested in what you have to share. Then slowly, you can incorporate monetisation elements once you have a readershhip.
