Traffic Woes

Now, I have to be honest for a moment when I started my new website two months or so ago I thought it was going to be as simple as creating the copy and releasing it. Boy was I ever wrong, I had to think fast and come up with a solution to get much needed traffic to my site.

Traffic is the life blood of any website and there are numerous ways to go about getting that traffic. Most people starting out myself included want to have their site be the most popular on the web overnight. Not going to happen! You really have to be realistic about the whole thing "No, great thing happens overnight". So, what is the trick to getting traffic to your site? Well, writing articles is one good way to get traffic to your site. Oops I almost forgot not just any traffic will do you need targeted traffic another problem to add to the equation.

Methods you can use to get targeted traffic to your website, include:

Viral marketing (Articles, Blogging, etc...)
Pay per click (really only good for niche businesses)
Redirected traffic
SEO
Click exchanges

Some methods for generating targeted traffic are better than others and it is not a one size fits all deal either. I would like to take a minute to elaborate on redirected traffic. This is one of the newest crazes when it come to generating targeted traffic. I have used this method a couple times and to me it is only good for increasing your alexa rating. Which goes back down if you don't continue to purchase the traffic. By far, I have to admit that Viral Marketing is the best form of generating targeted traffic and yes it is time consuming, but if you want to run a business you might have to work long hours to get it started.
