One mistake that a lot of people make is to not be aware of where their purse is hanging or that it is hanging open to pickpockets. Always have the bag protected under your arm, with the strap positioned diagonally over the body; if carrying a wallet, do not use your back pants pocket to store it. One other method is wrapping elastic bands around your wallet. The rubber bands will make the wallet less likely to slip out of your pocket or be removed without your knowing it. Leave any expensive or emotionally significant items at home. Make sure your carry-on luggage contains at least one outfit and other basic essentials. Make sure you have some things like a small clothesline, miniature clothespins and a few inflatable hangers; you can purchase all of these things at a convenience store. When you rinse out your clothing each night, these can prove to be very useful. Also remember to include a packet of self-address mailing labels. You can use these to easily mail purchases back to yourself. With these labels in hand, all you need to do is give on to the clerk, who can place it on your parcel for you. Print out a set of address labels with all of your contacts' names; it will make sending postcards a breeze. You should keep all of your sales slips together in one large envelope in your purse. This will save time and make it easier when you're going through customs. Bringing plastic bags of differing sizes will also be a life saver as they are great for packaging loose items like dirty laundry and shoes. If you are preferential to a particular brand of sunscreen, you may want to bring this with you in case you cannot find it there. When you bring liquids like shampoo, lotion, and deodorant with you make sure to keep them in plastic bottles. Plan your wardrobe around pieces that coordinate but do not wrinkle and can be hung up to dry. You don't want to waste time on vacation with washing and ironing.
