Treat Hair Loss

Is your shiny pate peeping through thinning hair? Welcome to the ever expanding club of the nearly hairless!

In most other cases, hair loss can be substantially controlled and new hair growth stimulated through a number of hair loss treatments. The first step is to discover the cause of hair loss and eliminate it.

Women who inherit hair loss will lose substantial hair from all over the head, but they will not be completely bald. This kind of hair loss can start early in the teens or any time later on. While this kind of hairloss cannot be cured, it can be treated using medication.

In certain kinds of autoimmune condition, smooth round patches on the head become bald, which ultimately leads to complete baldness. Although hair grows back when the condition is corrected, most dermatologists prescribe cortisone injections, pills and topical medications to speed up the process.

Baldness caused by stress, medication, birth control pills, thyroid diseases, severe infections, surgery and cancer treatments can also be corrected using medications.

Unfortunately, no single miracle pill or cream has been discovered to effectively cure hair loss. Medications like Finasteride and topical applications like minoxidil and other ointments containing corticosteroids are available to treat hair loss. Some people also use hormone injections and skin patches to vitalize hair growth.

However, the effectiveness of these medications is not proven (clinical studies show that Minoxidil may slow down hair loss, but there is no proof that it can reverse hair loss entirely). Potential side effects cannot be ruled out completely. Besides, users have to follow a strict regime for at least 4-6 months before they start experiencing results.

Since most hair loss medications are expensive, people are increasingly turning to alternative hair loss treatments. However, this mode of treatment is equally ambiguous because resultant effects seem to vary from person to person.

In the field of hair loss, only one thing is certain: early intervention is can limit and control hair loss to a large extent.
