Treatments For Back Acne!

In the winter you can cover up your back acne but now the summer months are coming you want to be able to wear what you want without feeling self conscious.

The condition is common enough that sufferers refer to it as 'bacne'. The back has many sebaceous glands which means this area produces a lot of oil. If you wear tight clothing that is constantly against your back or clothing made from material that doesn't allow your skin to breathe are major causes of bacne. Even irritation from bag straps has been known to cause bouts of back acne.

The above clothing and accessories mentioned causes the oil to be trapped which clogs the pores. And, as with acne that appears in other areas such as the face or chest, when the pores get clogged dead skin cells become trapped inside the hair follicles and bacteria grows causing acne.

The back is not prone to a specific type of acne, whiteheads and blackheads can appear, or pustules on the surface, papules (a bit deeper) or even deeper down acne cysts.

The skin that covers the back is much thicker than the skin that covers the other parts of the body so this has to be taken into consideration when searching for a treatment. It's quite important to only treat the areas that have acne, you don't want the healthy areas to become too dry. If those areas become too dry and flaky you may have to moisturize and that could cause more acne.

Most people don't wash their backs as well as they should so changing this bad habit will produce almost immediate results. Of course if your back acne is severe, you should consult with a dermatologist.
