Tron Legacy Special Effects
Using glass, concrete, and steel, many sets were created to make the world of "TRON" a reality. Along with these materials, came great talent. Artists were brought in from all over the world from multiple disciplines. From architecture to automotive design, people were brought in from all over the world. Kosinski hired only the best of the best, and most had never worked on a movie before. While the extensive list of seasoned artists was great, it obviously was not enough to make "TRON" come to life. When Kosinski began the plans for "TRON: Legacy" he had things in mind that no one would dare to even try to make real. Special effects may be getting more advanced by the minute, but that does not mean there are not limits. These limits would be pushed in order to make this futuristic and gripping story, one that you feel you are truly in. While creating the world of "TRON" itself was a challenge with the limits of technology, there were things much more challenging. Not only the world, but everything in it was created digitally. The actors were wearing suits that literally animated every move they made. The computer would record that move, and give that move a digital effect. While the actors themselves may have been animated, perhaps the most challenging special effect was the super bikes. The motorcycles posed all sorts of challenges and speed bumps for Kosinski and his crew. Figuring out how to make a light up bike actively appear on a grid going 60 mph was no easy task. Along with the speed issue you have to think of what angle will make the bike look good, and how you're going to make a black super bike appear on black glass at night. Even through all of the challenges, a director who had no previous film experience created a movie that will keep people talking for years. From the light up suits with built in fans, to the sleek looking motorcycles, "TRON: Legacy" has certainly made its mark in the special effects world and set a bar for other movies that is not going to be easy to surpass.
