Unlike tilt forward covers, the retractable bed covers put no limit on the height of the load carried either. Any cargo that fits the bed, fits the cover too.
Bed covers can be had for just a little money. You get protection from weather and a way to cover cargo from prying eyes, but at not much cost. Then again the inexpensive soft covers can't match the durability or look of the best retractable metal covers or the tilting or folding hard fiberglass or plastic covers. There are options in the middle especially since some hard covers all but match the function of the most costly covers but at a price not far from some soft covers...
Pickup bed covers may be purchased online at a discount. That means that installation and any warranty issues at on you instead of on a local dealer. That does mean however that the choices available to you are more broad and it makes choosing a cover a bit more of a challenge simply because of all the choices. It is easy in any case to get cover that offers much value for not much money. Soft tonneaus fill that role. Some of the hard covers offer a completely different level of protection.
