True Blood On Dish Network Will Be Back For Third Season
Author Charlaine Harris, who wrote the Sookie Stackhouse novels on which the series is based, was also in attendance and stated she was signed to write three more novels (which takes the series total to 12). The unpredicatable HBO show, which tells the tale of vampires and humans in Bon Temps, Louisiana, has brought in boffo ratings for the cable network (to the tune of roughly six million viewers per episode). No doubt HBO execs are beaming with pride at the success of the show and wasted no time in renewing it. HBO had been slowly slipping off the radar after the demise of such landmark shows as "The Sopranos" and "Sex and the City", two series that put them on the proverbial map. But now, with "True Blood", HBO has shot to the top of the charts again. Vampire related stories seem to be at their peak now due to the success of Twilight, and the ratings would appear to back up that claim. HBO clearly has a winner on their hands. Ball also teased that the new season will introduce new characters, and although he has veered off many of the books storylines and created his own, he did say that the central love triangle between vampires Bill and Eric and human Sookie will play out on the show in the same way it does in the novels. Another interesting tidbit that came from Comic-Con: there will be an actual Tru Blood beverage which will be available on September 10, the same day as the season two finale. On the show, Tru Blood is a synthetic blood drink that vampires to satisfy their lust for human blood. In real life, it won't be nearly as gross - just a simple blood-orange-flavored soda. Sounds delicious! HBO starts on channel 300 on Dish Network. If you haven't gotten hooked on this unique show as of yet, now's the time to start. The first season of "True Blood" is also available on DVD.
