Turning Newsletters Into Membership Sites... Is This A Good Idea?

“What are the benefits and disadvantages of turning a free newsletter into a membership website?” I don’t think there is any. You’ve got to set up your site only if you’re going to add more useful content to your visitor. You need to get detailed and in depth with your current free content. If you’re going to create a membership site, instead of it just being one thing that’s being delivered to them on a monthly basis, you’ll need to put it all together in special categories. I think that’s going to be a lot better for you in terms of your success. So you kind of pull a bunch of them together to give them a lot more.

You’ll also want to throw in some extra bonus offers. So instead of, just having a free newsletter, you might want to add in audio inside there. Basically, anytime that you can take different media and put them together, it’s going to increase the perceived value of your offers. So if you can even throw some videos or audios around the specific topics that you have inside the newsletter, I think that’s going to be very beneficial to your business.

There are no disadvantages of doing it. The only disadvantage I see doing it is it’s going to take some work to put it together. However, your results will far outweigh any negatives that you may encounter during the implementation. It’s going to be really good, especially keeping the same concepts and keeping the same information together; I think it’s going to be a good thing for your business.

So, what’s the easiest way to do this if you already have a huge subscriber base? I was recently asked this question by a student who was lucky enough to have 17,000 subscribers to their newsletter. They also had an OneShoppingCart promotion account. My answer to them... Well, the easiest way to do it would be to have a sales letter that’s going to be selling your product. You need to realise that once you get them in, the easy way to get the membership going is simply by just creating pages. But these pages need to be in depth content that would be difficult to find elsewhere. Your members want to feel that they are a part of an exclusive club and that they are learning things that are known to be “secrets”.

In terms of membership software; The easiest thing to do is probably get an Amember account. Amember is going to be the easiest thing for you. And then just create websites and then put them inside private folders inside Amember. You can find out more by going to Amember.com.

If you have an existing OneShoppingCart subscription, I believe OneShoppingCart does integrate with Amember. But if not, I know a lot of people are using the combination of their shopping cart alongside Amember. But Amember also can handle that for you because it can easily create all the pages and login details. So, if you’re considering starting a membership site, review this criteria and this should help you make the best decision for your business.
