Twilight Movie Review - A Gold Mine For Parodies With The Poor Acting

I suppose there are a few different reasons for a non-twilight fan to watch the Twilight movie, be it watching it with girlfriend, a boring afternoon, peer pressure, or just want to check out the hype. For me it's the latter. When I turned on the TV a few months back and it was reporting something about this Robert being the biggest heartthrob in the world, I was like, "What? Who?" But the main female actress is pretty though.

So I saw the movie just to see what everyone was talking about, and wow, it does nothing for me. Well, I can kind of understand the popularity of it, afterall it ticks all the boxes. Forbidden love, check. Rebellious teenagers in love, check. Mysterious vampires, check. With a few good-looking actors thrown in for good measure. I do find the storyline to be a bit shallow and too juvenile for me, and the poor acting of the main cast create lots of awkward and sometimes even funny moments when it's not meant to be.

That and the awkward dialogue had become the subject of so many Twilight parodies on youtube, because it's just so easy to twist the movie's intentions. At least the pace of the movie was consistent and covered enough story for people who hadn't read the book to follow the story. Considering it was the first installment of a series, then I suppose it did a good enough job to establish the setting while making sure there's enough drama to keep people wanting for more.
