Typing Test Tips For Improving Your Speed

When we first start typing, we don't usually worry too much about our typing test speed in the very beginning. But then there's usually a day where we watch someone we know type really fast on their computer’s keyboard and the wish comes over us that it would really be great to be able to type as fast as that person does. The average speed of a person’s normal typing test is around 30 to 35 words per minute in the English-speaking world. But that speed is definitely average and a lot of people can do so much better.

The other thing you need to consider is exactly how accurate you are. If you can only type 35 words per minute and you aren't accurate then you really need to improve your typing skills tremendously. Especially if you're going to try and get a job where a lot of typing is required. There are plenty of online typing test websites that will provide you with the way to learn how fast and accurate you are as a typist. These particular tests will allow you to see exactly how accurate you are and exactly how fast you are on a words per minute basis.

Another thing people really want to achieve is to be able to type very quickly without looking at their keyboard whatsoever. Do you have the ability to sit in a dark room and chat with one of your friends on Skype and are able to type without actually seeing the keys? That's something you should really think about. If you don't think you can do it this might be a way to motivate you to begin becoming better at taking a typing test and really improving your typing test speed so you can become a lot faster.

The first thing you want to do is create a map of the keyboard and the location of each key in your mind. And you're obviously going to want to learn how to use the QWERTY keyboard layout because it is the most common layout available and the one you will most often use the majority of the time. The first thing you really want to do is force yourself to stop looking at the keys and just begin typing right away. This will be extremely difficult for you to do in the beginning but eventually you will catch on and you'll feel like you've been doing it forever and it was just like learning how to ride a bike.

Posture is also very important when you are typing. It is a good idea for you not to slouch and you also want to have proper arm rest so each of your hands can be parallel to the ground as you type away on your keyboard. You should also keep your fingers slightly raised when typing. And the best type of keyboards available for typing purposes are ergonomic keyboards. They arranged the keys on ergonomic keyboards as a way to help you avoid getting carpal tunnel syndrome as well as to help you type better and faster. If you follow these tips you will greatly improve your typing test speed.
