University Of Georgia Football
The Bulldogs are coming off a disappointing 6-7 season in 2010. Fans are hoping to see continued improvement by sophomore quarterback Aaron Murray and more depth this season. Georgia has traditionally been one of the most competitive teams in the Southeastern Conference. UGA has produced National Championship teams in 1942 and 1980. Georgia teams have won 12 SEC Championship titles. Georgia will play 8 conference games and 4 non-conference games in the 2011 season. Conference games include powerhouse teams such as Florida, Auburn, and South Carolina. Georgia’s regular season will end on November 26 against instate rival Georgia Tech, in a game that will also be played in Atlanta. Mark Richt is currently in his 10th season as Georgia’s head football coach. Richt spent several years as offensive coordinator at Florida State prior to coming to Georgia. Under Richt’s leadership the Bulldogs have won 2 SEC Championships and have made 3 BCS bowl appearances. The Bulldogs play their home games “between the hedges” in Sanford Stadium in Athens. The legendary stadium, which opened in 1929, has seen a number of expansions over the years. Current seating capacity is over 92,000 fans, making Sanford Stadium one of college football’s largest facilities. The field is surrounded by its famous privet hedges. The University of Georgia and Boise State have met one time in the past. Georgia came out on top in that 2005 match up with a convincing 48-13 win. Boise State has produced increasingly consistent and successful teams in the last few years. This will be the first time either team has played in a Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game. Fans from both teams will enjoy pregame activities at FanZone, with its food, entertainment, interactive games, and pep rallies. FanZone will take place at the Georgia World Congress Center on the afternoon of game day. Georgia fans may also want to attend Bulldog Bash, a pregame indoor tailgate party exclusively for UGA fans, as part of FanZone. The game should be an exciting start for the 2011 football season.
