Use And Storage Of Stem Cells For Better Understanding

Stem cells research is a growing field that has seen a lot of controversy over the years with people having different views on that. But stem cells are seen today by more and more scientists as having a huge number of possible applications in the treatment and obviously cure of many human problems.

Researchers would usually come across three very different types of stem cells that could potentially been stored by stem cell banks whether they are privately owned or not.
The first type of cells is known as embryonic stem cells. They are a very primal type of stem cell that can then develop into various kinds of other cells. They probably are a very important kind of stem cells due to the fact that they can evolve into different cells like blood cells, heart cells or nerve cells for example.

The second type of cells is called adult stem cells. They have got some similarities with the first type of stem cells mentioned but have been used by scientists for longer and some possible treatments using those adult stem cells are already on trial around the world. The only problem with those stem cells is that they can not evolve in as many cells as the embryonic ones and can only extend into a few others.
The third type is the induced pluripotent stem cells. The use of those stem cells in the research field is at its infancy with only recent use however the first research and test carried seem to point that this kind of stem cell will be very useful.

It has become possible over the past few years to go to a stem cell bank or a cord blood bank to deposit the stem cells or the cord blood from which the stem cells will be extracted usually from new born babies. This is being done in order to protect your children’s future, in case they develop diseases like leukaemia or anything else that would need the use of stem cells to cure them. In that case, what better choice of stem cells that their own to help them. As cord blood collection and stem cell collection has become more and more popular, you can now find that you will have plenty of choice as to where you want to store the cord blood or the stem cells. There is plenty of choice with private or public stem cell banks and cord blood banks.
