Thanksgiving doesn’t just bring a bunch of empty bellies to the dinner table once a year; it also brings full wallets to businesses everywhere thanks to post-Thanksgiving promotions. The day after Thanksgiving is a huge day for the retail sector and other sectors that aren’t necessarily retail related. Figure out those holiday promotions early and gobble up some Thanksgiving marketing items as soon as you can!
It would be hard to find someone in the US who lived here as a child has not had the experience of tracing an outline of their hand and turning it into a turkey. This bird is pretty much the centerpiece of the holiday, becoming a bigger icon in some ways than the people that made the first Thanksgiving happen. The promotional items trade would be crazy not have any turkey-shaped promotional products, and they absolutely don’t disappoint.
Just as there is for all the other themes you can think up, Thanksgiving products have a lot of variety to them. Ordinary stuffed animals, either a cute turkey for the kids or shaped like a turkey fresh from the oven are there, so are foam turkeys made from the same spongy material that cowboy hats are made from. Straws with a turkey shape, pencils shaped the same way, turkey paperweights, turkey magnets, squishy turkey stress relievers, even plush turkey hats… if you want a turkey promotional item you’ll have your bases covered.
There are still plenty of iconic symbols of Thanksgiving other than turkeys, too. Indians with feathered headdresses and the Pilgrims with black buckled hats make appearances in the promotional items pile along with cornucopias. There are some really excellent adhesive backed embroidered appliqué promotional items that you could use to enhance as promotional clothing you’ve already got laying around the office. These are little broidered badges that you might find on the arms of uniforms, and would be nice little pieces of holiday flair. Perfect for a retail environment that has mandatory uniforms or vests!
Always consider a less than traditional Thanksgiving promotional product as an alternative to turkeys and Pilgrims. In some situations you might have your Thanksgiving promotions up against the promotions of other companies, especially if you are trying to take advantage of the post-Thanksgiving sales rush. Not only are people out there battling one another over hard to find sales, sometimes literally, anyone that is trying to sell a service or product is going to be competing heavily with each other. Themes of harvest and the colors of autumn should be towards the top of your list for consideration.
Make some careful considerations with your Thanksgiving promotions, as there is a large variety things to consider and lots of other companies are going to be doing the same. If there’s a corporate party, you might consider cups and plates with Thanksgiving themes. If you’re trying to sell a service or product, you’ll be taking a completely different route. For instance, if you end up at tradeshow that happens to be taking place around Thanksgiving your handouts will definitely need to lean away from Turkeys and Cornucopias because everyone else is guaranteed to have them. Give out some harvest mix, or some caps that are the colors of fall. Try to be creative and think outside of the box of traditional Thanksgiving advertisements.
