Until thought is linked with purpose there is no intelligent accomplishment. If we allow our thoughts to drift towards the vice of aimlessness and the abuse of such takes hold, we will be unable to steer clear of catastrophe and destruction. When we have no central purpose in our lives we fall an easy prey to petty worries, fears, troubles, and self-pity, all of which are indications of weakness, which lead, to failure, unhappiness, and loss, for weakness cannot persist in a power evolving universe. We should conceive a legitimate purpose in our heart, and set out to accomplish it. We should make this purpose the centralizing point of our thoughts. It may take the form of a spiritual ideal, or it may be a worldly object, according to our goals at the time being. Whichever it is, we should steadily focus our thoughts upon the object, which we have set before us. We should make this purpose our supreme duty, and should devote ourselves to its attainment. Do not allow our thoughts to wander away into fantasy, longings, and imaginings. This is the royal road to self-control and true concentration of thought. Even if we fail again and again to accomplish our purpose the strength of character gained will be the measure of our true success. This will form a new starting point for future power and triumph. If we are not prepared for the apprehension of a great purpose we should fix the thoughts upon the faultless performance of our purpose, no matter how insignificant our task may appear. Only in this way can our thoughts be gathered and focused, resolution and energy be developed which will result in accomplishment. The weakest soul, knowing its own weakness, and accepting this truth that strength can only be developed by effort and practice will at once begin to exert itself. By adding effort to effort, patience to patience, and strength to strength, it will develop and ultimately grow divinely strong. As the physically weak man can make himself strong by careful and patient training, so the man of weak thoughts can make them strong by exercising in correct thinking. To put away aimlessness and weakness, and to begin to think with purpose, is to enter the ranks of those strong ones who only recognize failure as one of the pathways to attainment; who make all conditions serve them, and who think strongly, attempt fearlessly, and accomplish masterfully. When we having conceived our purpose, we should mentally mark out a straight pathway to its achievement looking neither to the right nor the left. Doubts and fears should be rigorously excluded; they are disintegrating elements, which break up the straight line of effort, rendering it crooked, ineffectual, and useless. Thoughts of doubt and fear have never accomplished anything, and never will. They always lead to failure. Purpose, energy, will power, and all strong thoughts cease when doubt and fear creep in. The will power springs from the knowledge of "I can do it". Doubt and fear are the great enemies of knowledge. When we conquer doubt and fear we conquer failure. Align every thought with power, and all our difficulties will be bravely met and wisely overcome. Our purposes are then seasonably planted they bloom and bring forth fruit, which does not fall prematurely to the ground. Thought allied fearlessly to purpose becomes a creative force. When we recognize this we are ready to become something higher and stronger than a mere bundle of wavering thoughts and fluctuating emotions. We have become the conscious and intelligent wielder of our mental powers. Ultimately, we will achieve financial freedom and success.
