Use Twitter To Begin Driving Traffic- Learn How

Twitter is the new kid on the web 2.0 block. It is a micro blogging service that has gained enough popularity that even big corporations are using it. Even small businesses aren’t behind as they use it to grow and enhance their online business. So if you still haven’t thought about leveraging Twitter, you must be living under the rock. So, what is Twitter all about? Twitter is described as a micro blogging website that will allow you to build a base of people following you and keeping in touch through updating. These messages, or tweets, are limited to 140 characters in length, just enough for a few sentences. However, this is enough room to write a strong marketing message. When you have more to info, you can always copy your URL inside the body of your text. If you are marketing a product or service, simply provide your URL along with a brief description of what it is that you have to offer. This is just one example of how useful Twitter can be as a marketing tool. In the remainder of this article, I’ll discuss how you can use Twitter to attract interested prospects to your site.

To start with you’ll need to create a free Twitter account for yourself, which is doesn’t take long and is easy to do. And having your own web-page is not a requirement, by the way. All you have to do is select a username and you are ready to start. After you have your account is activated you’ll be able to invite other people, prospects or potential customers, to start following you. Basically, you’re just drawing attention to the site that you are directing them to. You need to leave out any information about your products or services when you are inviting people to follow you. A good way to start is to go through your address book and find existing contacts/customers on who use Twitter. You can then send them an email telling they why and how they should follow you on Twitter. You’ll notice that many of your contacts are already on Twitter and don’t need to sign up to follow you. Slowly the number of followers to your account will grow. As always, you’ll want to take care of your followers and treat them like gold. This is how you should do this. You continually offer them special offers and information they can use on a regular basis. For example, you may want to offer “Twitter Only” promotional offers, giving discounts to your followers. To entice more people to follow you, you can limit these offers to those people who are following you. By doing so, more people will share this info with their contacts, getting more potential clients interested in checking out your promotion.

If you have done any degree of homework on Twitter marketing, you will be aware that increasing the number of people that follow you and staying in contact with them is one of Twitter’s most significant traffic generating components. However, these aren’t the only ways to drive targeted traffic to your website or blog. The best part about Twitter is that you can tweet your updates and include a link in the update that leads people directly to what you are talking about on your site. It is easy to post an update that contains a link to the product website of any new product that you would like to promote. With time, you can slow and steady build a whole new marketing plan for your promotions and devise various ways to post promotional links on your Twitter account, which then builds a surge of traffic to your website. Twitter is a relatively new social networking site, but it is a powerful tool. The possibilities are endless! By combining common sense with an effective marketing strategy you will see great results.
