Used Road Bikes Can Save You Hundreds Of Dollars

People today are riding road bikes more than ever before. They are regaining popularity after a number of years when mountain bikes the bike to ride. But now people are storing their mountain bikes and buying road bikes which offer great opportunities to ride, race, commute and give a better way to exercise. But with the present economy people are looking for ways to save money on purchasing a bike. Used road bikes afford you this opportunity and there really are significant savings to be had.

Bikes are not a whole lot different than cars in that as soon as your take them out of the show room they instantly lose a lot of their value. What you really want to be looking for are bikes that people bought and were excited about but then lost interest in for some reason and then just parked it in the garage. They maybe thought they would get back into it but it never seemed to happen so now they want to try and get some money out of it.

Another potential seller of a used bike might be someone that has a good quality bike but the rider has become even more passionate about the sport and wants to move up a bit and get an even better quality bike. Selling what they have gives them some money towards the new bike they want to buy.

One of the things you want to be careful of is not overextending yourself on the bike you buy or paying too much for it. To do this you need to figure out how much you can spend before you start looking at them. I don’t know about you but it is easy for me want more and better features when you start seeing what’s available and so let the price get a lot higher than you can really afford.

When I started looking I started checking out eBay and any other web site that I could find to see what might be available and the prices bikes were selling at. I really had no idea at first but then as I was looking around and saw what they were selling at I had a much more realistic idea of what I might be able to purchase if the opportunity was right.

The other thing that I would recommend is to stick with name brand bikes. You might be able to buy an off shore bike and save a few bucks but then if you have to do some repairs on it there isn’t the support system available and you could be paying a whole lot more in the long run.

I personally recommend Specialized, Trek, Cannondale, Felt and they are several more that built similar high quality road bikes. If you stick to these top quality bikes all the parts that get warn can be replaced easily. And even if you get the bike in perfect working order parts do ware out so you will have to replace some at different points in time.

Buying a good quality bike is very expensive. But if you put in some time and look through the good used road bikes online you could save several hundred dollars and have just as good or better bike to ride. I was able to do it and you can too.
