There is now no doubt that the fastest way to make compost is with the rotating composter. Used correctly they can produce high quality compost in two or three weeks. This is amazingly quick but you must use them correctly to make this process as fast as possible.

Let's take a look at how to ensure you can make the highest quality compost in the shortest possible time-frame.

Firstly for the quickest results you must only use good quality organic matter. This means no adding of materials that are tough or woody. You want to add only ingredients that will easily break down. Things such as leaves, grass clippings, vegetable peelings, coffee grounds and the like are perfect. Just avoid the tough stems of cabbages and other hard organic matter.

Of course, you can add anything organic in nature but tough things will see an increase in the time it takes to turn them in to compost. You also want to ensure that the contents are moist but not too wet. Just damp enough to continue turning into compost but not so wet as too result in a nasty sludge. It is easy to ensure that you do not make the contents too wet simply by checking on the contents on occasion.

Lastly don't forget to actually turn the handle and rotate the contents. This is at the heart of the compost tumbler and should not be forgotten. A simple turn every few days and you will have great compost in a few weeks. This is why the best composter is the rotating composter.
