Using Your Booklet For Successful Marketing

In soft economies, generating interest and revenues for your organization can be difficult. This is where marketing to come in to save the bottom line! However, in order for marketing to be successful, you need to see the highest return for the money that you invested. Booklet printing is an intelligent way to get information into the hands of your potential customers without breaking your marketing budget.

The purpose of your booklet

Booklets are designed to educate the reader. There is usually very little actual advertising in them, unlike a catalog, where the educational content is limited and most of the content is focused on advertising.

The booklet should be designed with an “educational” purpose in mind. Think about a specific product, service, or even just information about your company in general that you want to share with the public.

Important booklet information

The information that you choose to include in your booklet will be determined by the purpose that you hope to achieve by creating it. For example, if you are trying to inform people about your non-profit organization, you would start with a history of the organization, the needs that you currently have, success stories of people that were helped through the cause, donor stories about how specific donations helped the cause, and a call to action that shows readers how to donate.

If you are trying to inform people about your holiday sale at your local shopping mall, you might include information like a history of the mall, current specials being offered at specific stores, information like store hours, and money-saving coupons to encourage people to come and visit during the sale.

Printing and distributing

Of course, in order for your booklet to be effective as a marketing tool, it must be printed and distributed. During this process, you have to walk a fine line between maintaining your professional image and balancing your marketing budget. You don’t want to come across as cheap or it could deter customers from shopping with you, but you also don’t want to spend your entire year’s marketing budget on one project.

One of your best options is to find an online printer that can offer your wholesale prices. Ask for samples to make sure that the results of the printer are of top quality, and look for printers that offer full color offset printing.

Contact your printer about the best options for printing and mailing. Some printers will offer packages where they will do the mailings for you, either on their own or through a mailing company with whom they work closely. The printer can also help you with choosing the best size, page count, papers, inks, and binding for making your booklet as cost effective as possible.

If you are stumped for ideas, take a look at previous booklets that have been created, either by you or other companies. See what design elements you liked, and which ones didn’t seem to work as well once you had them printed on paper. You can work at incorporating these elements into your final design to help your booklet printing become a successful marketing tool.
