Vacation Travel With Kids Made Easy

Family vacations can be a stressful time, especially if there are long hours of driving involved. Kids get antsy, uncomfortable and irritable; these have an unfortunate way of rubbing off on the parents, as well. A few tips will help you keep the kids happy (and quiet!) during your trip and reduced the amount of stress involved with vacation travel.

In order to ensure the best trip possible, you'll need to pack accordingly. There are quite a few things that you can carry in the vehicle to make the time pass more easily for your kids.

DVD Player: With a modest investment, you can buy a portable DVD player for your vehicle. Quite a few models can be found for under $100 at most major department stores. Most models strap to the headrest of a front seat; twin screen models are available, as well. Grab a stack of your kids' favorite movies and hit the road in peace and quiet (make sure you get headphones, as well!)

Travel Games: There are a number of classic games that are perfect for traveling. You can find quite a selection at most retailers, ranging from Rook and Go Fish to maze games, bingo, and travel sized versions of Monopoly and other board games. These can help while away the hours on the road, but also make perfect entertainment for hotel rooms and other options.

Video Games: If you are up for a slightly larger investment, options like the Nintendo Game Boy DS are available. These provide hours of entertainment for your children, though they are more expensive than board game options. For the serious gaming child, though, there are no better options. Even parents can enjoy some of these games, there are educational games that can stimulate brainpower and increase function for anyone.
