Valuable Rmlv Training

In Queensland, it is mandatory for Approved Managers and Licensees to undertake Responsible Management of Licensed Venues training – or RMLV. This course is offered in class over a two day period and is valid for three years in Queensland, after which time the course must be repeated.

During RMLV training, you will learn the rules governing running a licensed venue as well as the various types of licenses and permits available and what hours you can legally stay open. However, the course goes way beyond regulations, as it teaches employees about the effect of alcohol on the body and how to handle customers who respond negatively to several drinks. You will learn how it impacts the patrons, the establishment, and the neighborhood. You will also learn how to handle unruly patrons who refuse to accept your judgment that they have had enough and you will no longer serve them.

Be aware that licensed venues, in addition to restaurants and hotels, can also include functions at church and community halls, rock or folk festivals, or a beer garden at an outdoor sporting event. RMLV training also looks at the noise level that the nearby residences and other businesses will tolerate. This is an ongoing process that must be monitored. There are usually strict guidelines in place that apply to noise, and it is especially important to be vigilant if there is going to be live entertainment in the way of music where noise levels can easily rise once the event is well underway and liquor is being consumed.

Graduates will learn how to control the crowds, especially if there are patrons waiting to get in and gathering in queues outside the door. Security personnel must be present at all times at entrances and exits, which are common places for trouble to start. Staff should be prepared to assist patrons with calling a taxi or finding them a designated driver if they have had too much to drink.

Training is a vital part of any successfully run business and this is especially true of licensed venues. The risks are always higher where alcohol is present and consumed; a few days of training could be the difference between a situation that the employee(s) can control and one that turns into a tragedy. With the RMLV training course supplying the knowledge and instruction, and by following a few common sense rules, a licensed liquor venue can enjoy years of trouble-free events which will allow their customers to relax for a pleasant evening with friends.
