Stress is a factor that can have many effects which can be dangerous to a person's physical and mental health and well being. Many companies and school promote activities for stress relief in order to avoid deep seated effects of stress in individuals. There are basically many different activities for stress relief which work to the advantage of the person feeling especially stressed out or anxious.

Breathing And Mental Exercises

These activities for stress relief work well for those who can not go out of the place which causes them stress. Individuals who are faced with a whole day's work can do these activities for stress relief even during work since it can take just a few minutes of their time. Taking deep, regulated breathing when feeling overly anxious or stress helps to clear the mind and focus the thoughts.

Mental exercises such as visualization and guided imagery are also great activities for stress relief to complement deep breathing exercises. Guided imagery is a technique in which the person concentrates on certain happy or stress free events and images to calm and ease the stress and tension in the mind and body. Visualization is an activity for stress relief where the individual focuses on achieving positive results such as a good interview, getting the job done and getting good marks on tests or exams. The positive spin on the mental exercises is sure to ease the tension and get things under control.

Massage and Other Alternative Medicine Therapy

Many of the activities for stress relief stem from alternative forms of medicine. Massage is one of the most effective activities for stress relief which can totally relax the mind and body of the person. Massage is a therapy where in the person's body is manually manipulated to relax the muscles and encourage better well being. Kneading and rubbing of the muscles actually stimulates a relaxed well being for most individuals. In some cases, massage therapy is usually accompanied by aromatherapy. Aromatherapy is the practice of using scents and aromas to stimulate a person's mood and state of mind. These activities for stress relief are a great way to recuperate from anxiety and stress because sleep is achieved at times.

Acupressure and acupuncture are also positive activities for stress relief. Both therapies deal with pressure on certain points which can stimulate and promote well being and a relaxed mind and body. Alternative forms of activities for stress relief are often used more than any other traditional forms.
