Vertical Jumping Program

Jumping is a science that has been studied more over the past 20 years than in the previous 100 years. There have been great discoveries made in just the last 5 years that have completely changed the way we train our athletes. It used to be thought that it would take months to years of hard training to teach someone how to jump higher. But now it is known that results can come much quicker.

A vertical jump program should have some of the basic workouts and jumping exercises that you would expect from any good workout. These include:
Squats
Leg Curls
Calf Raises
Jump Squats
Speed Squats
Cleans
Hang Cleans
Lunges

The list goes on and on for leg workouts that really improve your strength. But strength isn't the only thing that is important to jumping higher. You must also train for speed. The speed is very important because doing anything slow will not result in your getting up off of the ground. The faster you can push off the ground, the higher you will propel your body in the air.

So how do you get faster? You train with plyometric workouts. Plyos are great for experienced athletes but they are very high risk. You need to make sure you have enough leg strength before beginning any type of plyometric exercises.
