Visualize The Life Of Your Dreams
Step One: Blank Tablet Do you feel like a thousand different things are running around in your head? Is it a daycare in your mind, each thought tugging and pulling for your attention? Look at me. I'm more significant than him! Look at what I can do! It's draining! For visualization to have the best possibility it can to generate the life of your dreams we must hurl those thoughts out (Don't worry, they can come back to play later). I could a whole article on how to accomplish this, but at this time try this. Sit in your favorite chair, couch, floor, closet, wherever. Any place that you can eliminate distractions. Turn that cell phone off, shut down this computer (I promise it will be fast and won't upset your life!) Unplug! Now that you're comfortable, shut your eyes (not required, but helpful). Center your concentration on your senses. Listen to the noises in the house/apartment/wherever. Listen as they come and go. Just listen. Feel your breath. Feel the air enter through your nostrils, feel the air expand in your lungs, feel the air leave through your mouth. Just feel. Notice your thoughts. Notice that if you don't hold on to them the thoughts come and go naturally, much like the breath. Just notice. Do this for as long as you want, there is no correct amount of time. Step Two: Visualize the End Result Picture the end result you are looking for. I remember when I was at a low point in my life. I was working a job that I hated, living with my parents because I couldn't afford an apartment of my own. I wasn't in a relationship, but knew I wanted one. No real future, no real anything I was proud of, until one day I came across Infinite Possibilities by Mike Dooley. In it he discusses visualization. Not having anything really to lose, I dedicated five minutes a day to give it a try. I didn't attempt everything at once. The first thing I remember visualizing was a new job. I was currently working a temporary position with a big company. I had been told quite a few times that the position was temporary and would always be temporary. Bummer! For five minutes every day I would visualize myself walking through this company with a badge that didn't say temporary. I imagined in as vivid detail as I could how great it would be to have my own desk, to receive a paycheck that had the name of the company on it (not the temp agency). I played out a scenario of me checking my pay stub, seeing the company name, and then a dollar amount much higher than I was currently making. A couple months went by, I applied to several jobs from the internal job posting board for this company and guess what. I got an interview! I knew that my visualization had led to me finding this opportunity, what I didn't know was how accurate it would be. I went for the interview, thought it went fine, found out the pay (which was lower that what I had imagined on the check) and didn't get the job! I’ll be frank, I was a little discouraged initially, however, several days after finding out I didn’t obtain the job I received an e-mail to schedule another interview. Things were moving! I was visualizing this job I would get and the paycheck with the larger dollar amount. I went into the interview super charged with positivity and the feeling that the job was already mine. Guess what? I got a second interview. So I kept visualizing to the point where the job felt like it was already mine. I truly believed and felt that I had already gotten the job and the interviews was nothing more than a formality. So, I went into the second interview feeling great. Guess what? I got the job! And the first paycheck? It was shockingly (shocking to me), the amount I had imagined in my visualizations! Whoa! If I had given up after being “rejected” from the first job, then the better, higher paying job would not have presented itself to me. Trust in the end results! Step Three - Act, Move, Do Something...Anything!! This step is vital! (See, it's bold, it must be significant). The truth to all this visualization stuff is that you can visualize all day, every day and guess what? It won't happen. It won't be anything more than a pleasant daydream. You have to move, act, take the first step. I can hear what you're thinking! But what if I don't know what to do? (I had the same thought). Do anything. If you don't know what to do then you're in the best situation to be in. You are in a situation where there is only one incorrect thing to do. Nothing. Doing nothing is the only possible thing that will keep you away from your visualization and leave you exactly where you are right now. So do anything. Course correct on the way and keep visualizing. Keep the end result in mind and do. You can't lose! Stay Inspired! Visualize!
