We Pay As They Go

One late Friday night, when most law-abiding citizens were asleep, apparently our President walked through darkened halls at the White House to quietly sign into law what he and the Democrats call PayGo, which is short for Pay As You Go. PayGo, he said, means that any new spending by the federal government must be accompanied by either a tax increase or spending cut, somewhere else, so we are paying for things as we go along.

Sounds great, doesn’t it? Not so. At the same time he signed PayGo, he also increased the federal debt limit by $1.9 TRILLION, to $14.3 trillion. This means that the Federal Reserve will print up an additional $1 trillion dollars that they will spend on Democrat programs. It also means that every dollar in your pocket will be worth less. This is a cunning way for making us all pay for their spending, without being open about it and just raising our taxes.

Not one Republican voted for PayGo. They know how this Democratic shell game works.

Left out of Mr. Obama’s speech when he signed the PayGo bill, is that discretionary spending is exempt from this law, so whenever the Democrats want to spend our money on one of their new, favorite spending programs, or keep one of their programs from having its funding cut, under PayGo, they simply label that spending as “discretionary,” and start passing the money out.

What this also does is make it easier for Mr. Obama and his Democratic Congress to increase taxes in 2011. As they continue their reckless spending of our money, inevitably, under PayGo, they will say that taxes MUST be raised in order to comply with PayGo. After all, its the law. You don’t think that they’ll cut spending on any of their pet projects, do you? It’s Democrat tax and spend, as usual.
