Walking In Majorca – Just Do It!
One of the most delightful ways you can get all the elements of the perfect holiday together is to go walking in Majorca, in Spain's beautiful Balearic Islands. Walking in Majorca Majorca is surrounded by the Mediterranean. It is a very mountainous island and those two things together mean that it has many miles of coastline, much of which can only really be easily explored on foot. For example, Puerto de Soller is a charming and stunningly beautiful harbour but it also has attractions in the hills and mountains surrounding it, where you will find tiny villages and lemon groves. Some of these spots are well off of the beaten tourist track and you may need help in finding and really exploring them. If your holiday provides the opportunity to do some walking in Majorca, particularly if under the guidance of an expert tour leader, this is a side of the island that you may find much easier to discover. Being driven around in a large coache or rushing around in hire cars simply will not offer the same opportunities. Good for the environment and your health It may be stating the obvious, but walking is also good for you. The health benefit of regular, moderate exercise is now rarely disputed and it may be even more prevalent if you are walking in a warmer and drier atmosphere than at home. Walking in Majorca can be organised around variable itineraries to suit many different interest and fitness levels. To give another example, Porto Cristo is a charming fishing port surrounded by magnificent countryside. Not only is there an opportunity to see unique natural life but the port is also famous for the 'caves of Drach' - a vast underground lake and a series of caves you can explore. It is also close to the larger slightly more industrial town, Manacor, where you can walk around and examine the cultured pearl factories and jewellery establishments, for which the town is well-known. However, if your interests run to fine arts, you may prefer a guided tour around the architecture and streets of Majorca's capital, Palma. In other words, there will be an itinerary that matches your individual interests. Don't forget that while you're walking, you are also not in a vehicle that is pumping out exhaust fumes of one sort of another. So walking in Majorca is not only good for you but also for the planet!
