Want Success? Get A Mentor Group!
So, what is a mentor group? Simply persons who agree to be your guide or confidant for a particular task that you desire to complete. They can be duly qualified people like a business owner, your mum or dad, a teacher, a Lawyer, or just someone who is degree educated because they have experienced the discipline required to complete a large task. You are seeking someone to keep you "on-track" because the task you desire to undertake is of great importance to you and maybe, of great value to the community as a whole. So, how do you get a mentor group? After a sort of selection process where you list the benefits of the task, you go and simply ask them. Depending on the type of person (if they are known personally to you, or not) you can approach them face-to-face and ask. The worst thing that can happen is they may say, "No". But they may be a little embarrassed if they do, and may offer you someone even better value who may suit you better for your particular task. Other ways to approach them is to get a friend to ask, send an email, write a hand written letter (that's better), send an email with a video link or an audio link telling them what it is you are wanting. What I am trying to impress upon you is there are many ways to ask if you are shy, but remember the person you ask will at the very least be "chuffed" that you asked them. It is human nature. Its a little like being asked out on a date. We like to be at least asked! How many people are in your mentor group? Two, three or four is good. Not too many. Three or four is best because sometimes people get busy and may not be available to you to meet at certain times when you feel you will need them. Also, you get access to more experience and more knowledge from sources that are willing to help you. Be sure before you meet each time to communicate what you are trying to achieve by meeting up. What's the purpose of the meeting because if you just meet and look at each other, it will not be long before mentors and you, get bored and start to feel unfulfilled. So, its better to have more than just an individual life coach because you have access to more resources with your mentor group. Besides, a life coach will probably cost you dollars and mentor groups often will guide you for free. Just ask them.
