I “know” it since long time; have heard it first many years ago, but always had put it into the range of “fairytales”. Until last week, when I was reminded on it by one of these chain-E-Mails that circle the globe, being forwarded from one to the next: I’m talking about the “Power of Coca-Cola”. And I really mean “Power”… cleaning and destructive power!
I heard many years ago that kids on the streets take “good money” from parking sinners in Germany and France where bicycle activists glue papers with a non-parking sign on a car’s windshield and/or back mirror if the owner had parked his car occupying the bicycle trail. This glue was with nothing to be removed; not even with fuel nor acetone. But street-kids had found out that Coca-Cola worked. Not telling anybody about their “little secret” they waited around the “punished” car for the owner to come back, to then offer their “services” for a pay. Once they got their money they moistened a cloth with the Coke they were drinking up to then, and five minutes later the happy car owner could drive off with clean windshield and back mirror.
Taking this as an example apparently curious people tried out various other conditions in which Coca-Cola might be quite helpful. One of which is the stain removal from toilet bowls.
The scientist in me was awaken again when I saw the PowerPoint presentation I was sent, and I decided that this time I finally wanted to put these manifestations to the test.
So, on my grocery shopping for the weekend I also bought a 3ltr.-bottle of Coca-Cola. Back home I went into bathroom, emptied the water from the toilet bowl and instead poured half the bottle of Coke in there and let it stay for a couple of hours.
What shall I tell you… it actually worked!! All the water and calcium stains that are so difficult, up to impossible to clean, were gone!
So it’s really true – proven by me now – that the citric acid of Coca-Cola does in fact clean stains!
And if it is able to do THAT… imagine what can it do to your stomach then? I only know that from now on I will look for an other kind of soft drink!
