Ways To See If Your Website Is Visible For Search Engines

Search engine optimization, or SEO as often known as, is a notion that is getting more and more well-known in the electronic era that we live in. Individuals, small companies and large organizations are starting to comprehend the importance of an online presence. Having a website is simply not adequate enough - your site needs to perform well on search engines. how else would internet users know that you exist?

Because search engine optimization is still a somewhat new process there is a big misunderstanding of what exactly it is and what it involves. Being in the website industry myself, I often deal with clients that have no idea what SEO is, but they still know that it is crucial enough that they can't be without it!

Are there certain things that you can do yourself to increase your site's effectiveness on the web? There most certainly are!

The first step would be to make sure that your site is designed Search Engine Friendly. Search engines are blind - as a matter of speaking - and if your internet site is not designed correctly, search engines would not be able to "see" your site. Search engines are only interested in the content of your web site, they don't care what your website look like. This does however not mean that you can have an unappealing website, because your website should not only be designed to be search engine friendly, but also human friendly!

Websites that are constructed entirely in Flash is a good example of a website that is not SEO friendly. Flash websites are regarded as "images only" websites, leaving the search engines with no information to read. If you are not sure if the content on your internet site is readable, you can do a fairly easy test: Right click on the home page of your website and click on "view source". A separate page will open. If you are able to find your home page's text on that page, it means that your internet site is understandale by search engines. If however, the page that opens contains everything but your text, your websites are not optimized for search engines.

One more thing that you should ask your website developer about, is search engine friendly URL's. An URL is simply the address that you see in the top bar if you are visiting a specific page. Search engine URL's are generally keyword rich and also assist search engines in finding your website.

Thirdly, inbound links to your website is vital. This does not mean that you ought to start doing link trades and ask other web pages to link to your website in return for a link from your website to their site. Links should be one-way links, therefore you can list your website with various directories and article networks.

Search engine optimization is a very necessary part of every website. It is no use having a gorgeous website that no one knows about! Rather employ a professional online marketing firm to assist with SEO - if not done efficiently you can end up throwing lots of money in the water!
