Ways To Recycle To Protect The Environment

People in America generate millions of pounds of trash every single day, including waste from old office electronics, computers, cell phones, batteries and more. One thing that our country is known for is our ability to create massive amounts of waste. Our landfills are steadily getting fuller and fuller, and as our population grows it is becoming more apparent that we will eventually run out of space for all of the waste that we have. This has caused an increased need for people to cut back on the waste that they create and to find safe ways to recycle their old items to keep them out of the Earth. Some of the many options for recycling include:
• City or Private Company Pick-Up

For items like glass bottles, plastic, paper and aluminum there are various easy solutions to recycling them. Some cities offer free pick-up of this type of recyclable trash. You receive a bin from them and fill it with your items, then place it on the curb on your designated day so that they can come by and remove them. In cities or towns that do not offer this service, there are often private companies that serve customers with recycling services for a fee. There are also usually recycling bins outside of local businesses like grocery stores and schools for people who do not want to pay for pick-up.

• Ewaste Events

Some quality recycling centers that are able to process electronic waste such as old computers, televisions, DVRs, cell phones, batteries and light bulbs offer events where people can bring these old items and drop them off for free. This is an important service, as this type of waste, called ewaste cannot be thrown out at all. It will contaminate the environment and can possibly lead to serious illnesses among people because it is so toxic. Items like batteries have been completely banned from being thrown out in California and other ewaste has been proven to be dangerous. When one of these events is happening near you, grab your old electronics and batteries and bring them in.

• Ewaste Pick-Up

Some recycling centers will also come to you and collect your ewaste for a fee. They also offer quality and safe processing in their facility of ewaste if you come and drop it off.

Do not simply throw away items that can be recycled like glass and aluminum, and never throw away old electronics or technological items that you are no longer using. There are many ways to recycle, so there really is no excuse for not recycling.
