Wedding Day Nerves

Are you make a wedding speech? Do you feel nervous, worry that things will go wrong. Maybe you will forget you lines or just froze when it your turn to give your speech. Well you are not alone. Even the most experience speakers get the nerves occasionally. Adrenaline is good because it helps you to focus your attention on what you are doing. Too much of it will set you in panic mode. Here are few tips that can help reduce your anxiety level.

Keep things in perspective. Do not take whole event too seriously. If you make a mistake during your speech or fumble a line, its perfectly all right. Compare wedding occasion with other public speaking event, the audience in a wedding reception are much easier to please. The are on your side. And more importantly they want you to succeed.

Do not let the unknown scare you. Give yourself a pep talk before you speak. Tell yourself that you are speaking among friends. And this will be a great speech. Make a point to enjoy yourself. Even if you are going to deliver a serious and solemn message you can still smile and have fun. What is important is that you need to cultivate the proper tone that match you speech. Break into a smile before or during the speech. It helps to decrease your stress level. Let the audience know you are nervous. This will allow them to warm up to you.

Set aside time to prepare and write your speech. It is a bad idea to improvise on the spot. Once you are happy with it. You need practice till you know your speech well. When you prep well, you gain an increase in confidence. So remember to make time for practice.

Breathing exercise is another way to calm those nerves. Your breath is intrinsically link to your emotional state. When you get nervous your breath become shallower and quicker. Focus on taking long deep slow breath into your belly. Repeat this a few times and you should find your anxiety reduced.

Sometimes you might be tempted to go for a drink before you speak. If you must have a drink, do keep it to just one drink. Impairment of the senses can increase anxiety.

So remember being nervous be giving your speech is normal. Whatever your fear might be, just take the plunge. You will realize that it is not as bad as it seem.
