Weight Loss - Drink Your Water

For a simple, odorless, colorless and nutrition less substance, it may be surprising that water can pack a serious punch in your weight loss efforts. Most people understand that water is vital to our survival, but very few truly comprehend why it is that our bodies need water, and what drinking enough water can actually do for our bodies and our overall health.

Water is an outstanding supplement for weight loss for a number of reasons. The first is a more obvious reason, because as a refreshing 0 calorie drink, you can drink as much as you want without it affecting your diet for the day. In fact, drinking water before, during and after a meal will help to fill you up quick, and keep you feeling full for much longer than if you simply ate a meal. This is a great way to exercise portion control without feeling hungry after you’ve finished eating.

By giving your body all of the water that it needs, you will be detoxifying your body in a sense; flushing out impurities within your body and in your skin. Water can do wonders for your appearance by clearing up your skin and giving you a complexion that is clear and glowing. When your skin cells are properly hydrated, saggy skin can be nicely tightened and plumped up. Water is also capable of improving your muscle tone, and you may not notice a difference in weight training unless your muscles are properly hydrated at all times. If your muscles have all of the water that they need, they will contract more easily than normally which will make your workout much more effective.

It would surprise you to know how many people go around in their daily lives without realizing how dehydrated they are. The average person is not drinking enough water, and their body is constantly desperate for more. Dehydration can cause a lot of negative effects within the body, including unwanted water retention, stiff or sore muscles, a dry complexion and saggy skin, and many others. Many people also often mistake dehydration for hunger, and it causes them to overeat. There is a chance that if you are overweight, it is because you are chronically dehydrated and need to step up your intake of water in order to eliminate the negative effects.

Water is a truly fundamental facet of our lives, though we often completely forget how much we depend on it. The body can exist without food for as many as two months, but survival without water can only last a few days at best. Human survival hinges on the availability of water, and while we may be able to live relatively normal lives while chronically dehydrated, it has become clear that properly hydrating the body is vital for a healthy weight and strong, effective muscles. Adequate hydration has even been linked to preventing some illnesses, which is just another exceptional reason for why you should strive to give your body all of the water that it wants and needs.
